Comments: I remember meeting Tiny at Steve Paul's The Scene on W46th Street in New York in 1966-67. He would take the train down from Washington Heights and just sit around the club waiting to perform. Sometimes he would get a chance to perform; sometimes not. Usually if he performed, it was just as the club was getting ready to close and often the inebriated tourists would laugh at him. This didn't bother Tiny. He would continue playing and singing much to the delight of the club "regulars." He was there often He always sat in the "back room." One night I had a wonderful conversation with him about, of all things, toothpaste! This was 40 years ago and I am now 62. As I look back over my life I can truly say he was one of the kindest souls I have ever met.
