Tiny Tim Touring Guam

I have a interesing story to share. In the Airforce as a b52 bomber crew chief I was stationed at Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. One night in 1972 myself and a buddy went to the NCO club to eat and have a few beers and to see Tiny Tim's show.It seems Tiny Tim was touring the Island and was performing at all the different bases scattererd across the Island. The Viet Nam war was going full blast so the place was crowded with service men and service women. Everybody wanted to see Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki. Anyway back at the club the show was starting. my buddy brought along his nikon 35m camera to get a few pictures of Tiny Tim. Starting the show were the Acker Twins (really nice blondes). They did a little country and western show to warm up the audience (of which most were drunk)). My Buddy snapped a bunch of pictures of the two girls. Finally we saw Tiny and he did a few songs ( Tip Toe thru the Tulips for sure. I can't remember the other songs)Right after the show the two twins approached our table and started talking to us. They were interested in my buddy's camera and asked if we could get them one. Sure we said. The next day we picked up the camera at the base exchange and met them at the Guam Hilton Hotel. We had a great time and met Tiny and Miss Vicki. After that we hung around with the girls for at least a month. We got in good with the hotel manager. We had free drinks at the beach bar and access to the swimming pool for as long as were were in Guam. It was great. The twins had a rental car so we kind of went around the island. I didn't see a lot of Tiny. He kind of kept to himself in his room. His room was on the top floor and the windows were open. Miss Vicki said he didn't like air conditioning. He also cooked his own meals.Miss Vicki had her own room. (Some things about Miss Vicki I'll keep to myself.)I had two or three conversations with Tiny Tim. He was articulate and pleasant and seemed quite intelligent. Miss Vicki was quite plesant also (She did drink a little if you know what I mean.)Anyway before it all ended and Tiny and crew headed back to the States, a few things happened. One day the twins got stopped by the Guam cops for for driving badly. (they were actually skidding on the rain slicked coral and shell composite asphalt roads.)For some reason the cops sprayed them with pepper spray. The hotel manager complained and the police chief made the cops go to the hotel to apologise to the twins. what a mistake. At the hotel one of the twins grabbed the cops pepper spray and sprayed the cops. We were flabbergasted. I could not believe she did it. Anyway the cops left and that was the end of it. A few days later they ran the car off the road and hit a tree. One of the twins went to the hospital for a week.Tiny and crew left the island ahead of them. The twins left a month later. I don't know whatever happened to them. Before leaving, they said they might be doing a spread for Playboy. If they did I never saw it. Most people who hear this story don't believe it. But it happened . My Buddy Sargeant Frank Manganice, who now lives in Galveston, was there and can verify the story. Well that's my story and I must admit when Tiny died I was saddened.

Thanks,
Ron Johnson.
