TINY TIM DISCOGRAPHY:
PART THREE: A HISTORY OF U.S. PROMOTIONAL RECORDS
All of Tiny's releases on Reprise were issued as white label promos. There
were ten singles
including the back to back hits reissue and four albums. All of the promo
singles matched their stock counterparts except "Why" which had stereo and
mono versions of just the A-side. A shame since "The Spaceship Song"
is the hardest B-side to find! I recently found a scarce STEREO white label
promo for "Great Balls Of Fire". The common one is mono. The most unique
Reprise promo is the "Tiny Tim Spots" 7" single (Reprise PRO-276) featuring
four different radio spots narrated by Laugh-In's Gary Owens to advertise
the "God Bless Tiny Tim" album. Reprise also sent out white label promo
copies of all three albums, the first one being done in both mono and
stereo. Promo copies were also issued on the following labels; Blue Cat,
Bouquet, Clouds, Fresh Squeezed, NLT, Scepter, Solid Brass, True, and Vic
Tim. Bouquet records most likely sent out promo copies of their album (as
they did for both of their 45's.) Tiny was also featured on many public
service records. One is called "The Grammy Treasure Chest". This was a
weekly program sent to radio stations. Hosted by Mike Douglas, the show
included songs and interviews by a different guest each week. Tiny
performed two songs; "Every Ship Will Find A Harbor" and "When The World
Don't Treat You Right". The program was sponsored by U.S. Savings Bonds and
was produced in the early to mid 1970's.
