Former Resident Visits Tiny Tim In Windy City

JIM WALSH VISITS WITH TINY TIM
Ulysses (Jim) Walsh, who grew up in Marion, was employed at one time in the local post office,
and who has an international reputation as the world's foremost authority on old phonograph records
and the lives of early recording artists, visited "Tiny Tim," the television,
night club and recording star, during a recent stay in Chicago.
Walsh, who now lives in Vinton,
made the trip as the guest of Hobbles, "The Magazine for Collectors," in which he has written the
"Favorite Pioneer Recording Artists" department for the past 27 years.
He also went at the request of Tiny Tim, who wanted information concerning his favorite
old-time recording artists, whose voices he seeks to duplicate in his act.
During his stay he visited the Chicago Antiques Exposition and Collector's Fair,
sponsored by Hobbles and held In the world's largest hotel, the Conrad Hilton.
The singer introduced walsh to his audience at the College Inn night club and said
he developed the idea for his act largely from many honrs spent in the Now York public
reading the Vinton man's Hobbies articles.
At the conclusion of his Chicap engagement, Tiny Tim left for Hollywood to star In a film.
Walsh said the long-haired singer is one of the most sincere, courteous and "$thoroughly nice"
persons he has ever met and completely deserves his success.
