Tiny Tim TributeTINY TIM
With his pancake makeup, stringy hair, and bizarre falsetto, Tiny Tim stood out even in the '60s.
The ukulele-strumming performer, whose TV wedding was seen by more than 45 million people, died
November 30 of a heart attack at reported age of 64. His breakthrough was the 1968 debut of Rowan and
Martin's Laugh-In, on which he sang his Top-20 hit, "Tip-Toe Thru' the Tulips with Me." That led to
many talk-show appearances, most memorably his marriage to Vicki Budinger-"Miss Vicki"-on The Tonight
Show Starring Johnny Carson December 17, 1969 (above), which cemented his pop-culture status.
"If I fell down today," Tim told TV GUIDE in 1968, "I could always say that at one time in my life,
for a moment, I stunned them all." He continued to perform in the '90s despite failing health, and
died on-stage performing "Tip-Toe." "I was very saddened by news of Tiny Tim's death," Johnny Carson
told TV GUIDE. "He was one of the most ingenuous persons I have ever known."
