Weddings, 1970-Style
TINY TIM threw about 20 million television viewers into a tizzy on the December 17th "Johnny Carson
Show" when he vowed to be "sweet, gentle, kind, patient, not puffed up, charitable, slow to anger and
swift to forgive" during the 10-minute ceremony that made him and 17-year-old Victoria May Budinger
man and wife. The Reverend William Glenesk of the Spencer Memorial Church in Brooklyn read the vows
which were written in part by the couple. The long-haired, 37-year-old entertainer wore Victorian-
style clothes for his wedding. The bride's gown, also Victorian, was off-white peau de soie with lace
collar and sleeves. After the ceremony, a reception was held at The Ground Floor, a restaurant in
New York's CBS Building. The couple honeymooned in the Bahamas where Tiny Tim asked for separate, but
adjoining bedrooms. This, he said, was in accordance with the Old Testament tradition of Tobias. Be
that as it may, Tiny Tim and Miss Vicki were expecting a child in September. But Miss Vicki lost the
baby in May.
